Ex-Rebel Jordan Cornish won’t play at Cal, reopens recruiting

Friday was an eventful morning for UNLV basketball:

— Jordan Cornish reopened his recruiting, decommitting to California. Whether he stays at UNLV remains to be seen. An attempt to reach Cornish was unsuccessful.

— Justin Jackson will visit Maryland this weekend, according to The Washington Post. He signed scholarship papers with the Rebels in November. Jackson still lists himself as a UNLV commitment on Twitter, but this obviously isn’t a good sign for the Rebels. Now all four players who signed in November have reopened recruiting, with Christian Vital announcing Friday he would attend Connecticut. Jackson did not return a message seeking comment.

— Cheickna Dembele’s visit to UNLV continued, according to his high school coach, Jareem Dowling. Dembele attends Scotland (Pennsylvania) Performance Institute. He also is scheduled to visit Missouri on May 6.

— Ben Carter left on his trip to Michigan State. He also has visited with Arizona and Arizona State, but hasn’t ruled out staying at UNLV. As a graduate transfer, Carter would be eligible to play right away.
