Stacey Augmon, Ryan Miller in limbo after meeting with new UNLV coach Chris Beard

UNLV basketball coach Chris Beard has met with assistants Stacey Augmon and Ryan Miller, but there was no indication of whether either would be retained.

Meanwhile, Beard’s contract has been submitted to the school’s Board of Regents two days after the official announcement of his hiring.

Beard met with Augmon on Monday night, but it was unclear if they would talk again. The meeting with Miller occurred Tuesday, and they will talk again at the Final Four, which starts Saturday in Houston.

One source said Beard’s meetings with players and staff have gone well, and there was a positive feeling about what he could accomplish at UNLV.

He was hired from Arkansas-Little Rock after going 30-5 and making the second round of the NCAA Tournament in his one season there. Beard, 43, was named the Sun Belt Conference Coach of the Year after winning the league regular-season and tournament titles.

His contract at UNLV is expected to be for five years and in the range of $900,000 to $1 million. The deal was submitted to the University of Nevada Board of Regents on Wednesday morning.

Also, Rebels guard Ike Nwamu will participate in the State Farm College Slam Dunk &3-Point Championships today in Cypress, Texas. The event, which will be televised on ESPN at 6 p.m., is for college seniors with no eligibility left.
