Caught in a trap?

Tonight’s UNLV basketball game against Southern Utah is the very definition of a trap game.
The Rebels are coming off a huge win against Arizona on Saturday in which the team finally began to play up to the lofty preseason expectations.
On the horizon looms a matchup at Louisville on New Year’s Eve. It is a game that has been circled on the calendar for months.
What does it all mean?
It is not enough for UNLV to come out and survive this game.
The Rebels must come out and put the Thunderbirds away early.
Southern Utah has not won a game away from Cedar City, but the team has been competitive.
The Rebels must make sure the Thunderbirds don’t build confidence as the game progresses that this could be the night to get that first victory.

LAS VEGAN GETS THE START

Southern Utah guard Mike Josserand was inserted in the starting lineup tonight by Thunderbirds coach Roger Reid.
Josserand is a sophomore from Centennial High School. He averages about 22 minutes a game but usually is one of the first players off the bench for the Thunderbirds.
He got a warm reception as he was introduced tonight, a rare occurrence for an opposing player at the Thomas & Mack Center.
