HOOPSTER LEADS CELEBRATION

It's hard to imagine that the UNLV fans who showed up at Sun Devil Stadium on Saturday night to watch the UNLV football team play Arizona State actually thought their Rebels had a chance to win.

But as the game wore on and UNLV stayed close, the small but vocal group of Rebel supporters in the corner of the end zone grew more and more enthusiastic.

Then came pure elation from the group as Malo Taumua blocked the overtime field goal that gave UNLV the victory.

It was particularly enjoyable to see an athlete on campus who has enjoyed successes of his own rejoice with the football players with whom the whole experience was very new.

Joe Darger was perhaps the happiest fan in the stadium.

The UNLV basketball player made the trip and celebrated the victory as if he and his basketball teammates had just made it to the Final Four.

Perhaps, the football team will get a chance to return the favor come March.
