IOWA STATE LOOKS TO END ROAD FUTILITY

Not that long ago, UNLV was mired in a stretch of road losses. The Rebels snapped a 15-game road losing streak with last year's season-opening win at Utah State.

Now UNLV will be in a position to keep a streak going as Iowa State drags a 12-game skid away from home of its own into Sam Boyd Stadium on Saturday.

The Cyclones' last road win came on Oct. 29, 2005, at Texas A&M.

Only Florida International and Alabama-Birmingham posess longer current stretches of road futility.

That's not the kind of company you want to keep as a football program.

But Iowa State hopes to end the streak in Las Vegas.

A writer for the Des Moines register said in a story about the road losing streak on Wednesday that the Sam Boyd Stadium crowd "can be less than intimidating."

In the same story, a Cyclones player said he and his teammates would like to hear from the Rebels fans.

"They say when you hear the fans boo (on the road), then you know you're doing something right," defensive back Chris Brown told the paper. "That's our main agenda, to get them to start booing."

Many Rebel fans are no doubt hoping to grant Brown's wish.
