Jason Beauchamp signs as undrafted free agent

UNLV linebacker Jason Beauchamp signed as an undrafted free agent with the New Orleans Saints. He said the club told him he could play immediately.

Beauchamp said he was in a better spot to sign as a free agent rather than be drafted late.

"I almost didn't want to get picked in the sixth or seventh round," he said. "The difference is they decide where you want to go (as a draftee). From what I see, the Saints are by far the best situation for me. I'm glad I didn't get picked up."
