Under par again, Finkelstein ties for 33rd at NCAA championship

UNLV junior Dana Finkelstein broke par for the second straight day at the NCAA women’s golf championships, firing a 1-under 69 Friday in her final round, finishing with a four-day total of 289 and a tie for 33rd place among individuals at Tulsa, Okla.

Finkelstein, who began her last round at the No. 10 tee after her 2-under 68 Thursday, was 2-under with four holes to play at the Tulsa Country Club. But she took bogey on two of her next three holes, putting her back to even par before making birdie at the par-3 No. 9, her final hole. She finished 15 strokes behind medalist Doris Chen of Southern California, who had a 274. Oklahoma freshman Alexandra Kaui, who starred at Green Valley High School, shot a final-round even par 70 and finished in a tie for 16th place at 285.

In the team competition, Duke won the title with a 10-over-par score of 1,130. The Blue Devils were two shots ahead of runner-up USC and 15 strokes in front of third-place UCLA.
