UNLV roundup: Men’s soccer team stays hot at home

Danny Musovski scored his league-leading 10th goal of the season to help UNLV edge Incarnate Word 1-0 in a Western Athletic Conference men’s soccer match Sunday at Johann Memorial Field.

The senior Liberty High School product buried a pass from Kevin Partida in the 71st minute as the Rebels (7-7, 4-1) notched their fifth straight home win and moved into second place in the WAC behind Seattle (4-0-2).

Musovski, who notched his third game-winning goal of the season, has at least one point in five of the past six games. Enrique Adame had three saves in his second shutout of the season.

The Cardinals (3-9-1, 1-5) were outshot 15-9.

WOMEN’S SOCCER

At San Jose, Calif., Darriell Franklin scored two second-half goals to help rally San Jose State to a 3-2 win over UNLV.

Amanda Galbraith had a goal and an assist in the first half for the Rebels (12-5, 4-4), who have lost two straight for the first time since dropping three in a row from Sept. 25 to Oct. 2, 2015 — a span of 50 games.

Galbraith scored her sixth goal of the season on a rebound off a blocked penalty kick in the 21st minute and then assisted on Michaela Morris’ eighth goal of the season in the 35th minute to put UNLV up 2-0.

Franklin scored her second goal of the season on a 67th-minute penalty kick, and Jennifer Orozco’s second goal of the season tied it in the 71st minute.

Franklin’s go-ahead goal came off an assist from Dorthe Hoppius in the 83rd minute.

The Spartans (9-5-1, 6-1-1) held an 18-7 edge in shots, including 10-2 in the second half, in their third straight victory.
