REBELS ASSISTANT LEAVES PROGRAM

Safeties coach Vic Shealy has left UNLV's football staff "to pursue other opportunities," coach Mike Sanford said.

Sanford did not go into further details.

Shealy has been with the Rebels for all four seasons of Sanford's tenure. He served as defensive coordinator the first two seasons, co-coordinator in 2007 and was moved to being solely a position coach last season in addition to retaining the title of assistant head coach.

He is the second assistant to leave following the 2008 season. Running backs coach Kenith Pope took the same positon at Iowa State.
