Lady Rebels fall against Fresno State

The UNLV women's basketball team built a five-point lead midway through the second half, but couldn't hold off first-place Fresno State in a 72-66 Mountain West loss Wednesday night at Cox Pavilion.
UNLV (8-14, 4-4) had won two in a row and three of four.
The game was close throughout the second half, with the Lady Rebels going up 48-43 at the 12-minute mark on a Briana Charles layup. Fresno State then went on a 7-0 run, and UNLV never led in the final eight minutes.
The Bulldogs (15-6, 7-1) got a game-high 21 points from Rosie Moult. Kelli Thompson led the Lady Rebels with 17 points, and Rejane Verin had 11 points and 12 rebounds.
The Lady Rebels got off to a slow start, falling behind 10-0 before Danielle Miller hit a jumper two minutes into the game to start a 15-4 run that put UNLV up 15-14. UNLV pushed the lead to 28-21 on a Thompson layup six minutes before the half, but Fresno State went on an 11-4 surge to tie the score at 32 at halftime.
