Poor shooting dooms Lady Rebels in loss at BYU

The UNLV women’s basketball team couldn’t overcome a nine-minute field-goal drought in the first half Thursday in a 76-61 loss to Brigham Young in Provo, Utah.
The Lady Rebels (3-4) managed nine first-half field goals and seven in the second in their second straight loss. They shot 26.7 percent, while the Cougars (4-3) shot 45.8 percent.
Alana Cesarz had team highs of 24 points and 11 rebounds for her third double-double of the season for UNLV, which trailed 36-25 at halftime. Lexi Eaton paced four double-figure scorers for BYU with 19 points.
