UNLV transfer clears first NCAA hurdle

The NCAA has granted senior Cody Doolin’s season of competition waiver request, but the point guard still has to have his transfer residency waiver approved so he can be eligible to play basketball for UNLV this season.

Doolin, a 6-foot-3-inch guard from Austin, Texas, previously played at the University of San Francisco where he averaged 9.8 points and 4.4 assists in three-plus seasons with the Dons. He played just four games last year but graduated from USF in May with a bachelor’s degree in finance. If the NCAA approves his transfer request as expected, Doolin will have one season of eligibility left.
