UNLV’s Devonte Boyd selected as second-team All-Mountain West

UNLV sophomore wide receiver Devonte Boyd was named on Tuesday second-team All-Mountain West football.

Junior center Will Kreitler and junior linebacker Tau Lotulelei were listed as honorable mention. No Rebels made the first team.

This was the second year in a row Boyd made the second team. He also was conference Freshman of the Year last season after catching 65 passes for 980 yards and four touchdowns. Boyd followed that performance by catching 54 passes this season for 904 yards and seven touchdowns.

San Diego State dominated the major awards, with the top honors going to junior running back Donnel Pumphrey (Offensive Player of the Year), junior defensive back Demontae Kazee (Defensive Player of the Year, sophomore Rashaad Penny (Special Teams Player of the Year) and Rocky Long (Coach of the Year). Pumphrey played high school ball at Canyon Springs.

Boise State quarterback Brett Rypien was Freshman of the Year.
