Wild card Brady stuns defending champ Oudin at Red Rock Pro Open

Wild card Jennifer Brady upset defending champion Melanie Oudin 7-6 (6), 7-6 (3) on Thursday to advance to the quarterfinals of the Red Rock Pro Open at Red Rock Country Club.
Brady is taking the fall semester off at UCLA, where she won the Pac-12 Conference singles title last year as a freshman. Two weeks ago, she won the singles and doubles titles at the USTA $25,000 Pro Circuit Futures event in Redding, Calif.
Brady will meet No. 3-seeded Anna Tatishvili on Friday at 10:30 a.m. in the first match on Stadium Court.
In a rematch of last week’s final in the $75,000 Albuquerque, N.M., Challenger, Tatishvili ousted unseeded Irina Falconi 6-3, 7-6 (3).
In doubles, Las Vegan Asia Muhammad and Maria Sanchez whipped Naomi Broady and Falconi 6-0, 6-3 to advance to the semifinals. The top-seeded duo will meet No. 4-seeded Nicole Melichar and Allie Will at approximately 3:30 p.m. on Stadium Court.
