10-year-old’s Facebook plea saves dad’s life

Facebook isn’t just a place to update friends about one’s culinary conquests and relationship woes. It’s also a viable resource for seeking emergency help.

When a severe storm hit a West Virginia town, causing her father to be trapped underneath a massive tree, 10-year-old Brianna Vance took to Facebook and posted a video asking for assistance.

“The home didn’t have a landline and the family wasn’t able to dial 911 on their cell phones,” HLN reports. “Vance’s daughter, Brianna, had an idea. She made a frantic plea for help that she posted on her Facebook page.”

“The lightning crashed and hit a tree by our porch and my dad’s almost dead. He needs an ambulance please,” Brianna’s Facebook post read. “Please call one for us if you have a signal.”

Following her post, local firefighters came to the rescue.
