19-year-old needs help proving U.S. citizenship — VIDEO

She’s 19-years-old and she can’t legally drive, get a job, go to college, board a plane, create a banking account or vote.

Why? Because she was born at home and doesn’t have any documentation to prove it.

She was born in the U.S. She’s lived here her whole life, and yet — she has been denied the basic rights of an American citizen through no fault of her own.

Note: Pennington’s story has not yet been confirmed, but here’s what she claims.

“My parents neglected to file a birth certificate or birth record of any kind,” Alecia Pennington said in an open letter on YouTube. “They also never got me a social security number.”

She was homeschooled, so there are no school records. She has never been to a doctor, so there are no health records.

Pennington has requested a delayed birth certificate and was rejected.

She can’t prove her citizenship, and her parents won’t help, so she’s turning to the public for advice.

“I didn’t pick this situation for myself, I just have to deal with the consequences,” Pennington said. “And I don’t know how to fix it — I don’t know how to get out of this.”

Following the posting of this video, a man claiming to be her father posted a video response.
