Thirteen local restaurants are scheduled to participate in the Building Champions Against the Odds Campaign to benefit the Nevada Children's Center on Wednesday, International Children's Day.

The campaign is taken from the nonprofit center's slogan, as it works to rehabilitate children against the odds, as many of its clients are working to overcome challenges due to mental and/or behavioral issues.

On Wednesday, participating restaurants have pledged to donate between 10 and 20 percent of their revenue to the center. Restaurants scheduled to take part include Applebee's, 10305 S. Eastern Ave.; BJ's Brewhouse & Restaurant, 9250 S. Eastern Ave.; Elephant Bar at The District, 2270 Village Walk Drive; Carluccio's Tivoli Gardens at 1775 E. Tropicana Ave. and at 10170 W. Tropicana Ave. inside The Bounty Hunter; Joe's Crab Shack, 4250 E. Sunset Blvd.; Sammy's Woodfired Pizza, 4300 E. Sunset Road; and California Pizza Kitchen at Town Square Las Vegas, 6659 Las Vegas Blvd. South.

Diners are asked to bring a flier that can be downloaded at nccenter.org. Those dining at Carluccio's do not need to bring a flier.

Andre's to host Whiskey Wednesday

Andre's Restaurant & Lounge at the Monte Carlo, 3770 Las Vegas Blvd. South, is teaming up with Wirtz Beverage to host the second Whiskey Wednesday event showcasing Jack Daniel's whiskey inside Andre's signature cigar lounge.

The event is scheduled from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and is set to feature a cocktail tasting staffed with master mixologists showcasing Gentleman Jack, Jack Daniel's Single Barrel and Jack Daniel's Tennessee Honey & Woodford Reserve.

Putter's to open new location

Putter's Gaming Group is scheduled to open the South Strip Putter's Bar and Grill this month at 8945 Las Vegas Blvd. South at the corner of Pebble Road.

The location will feature a complete renovation of the existing building, including the addition of neon Las Vegas icons such as Sassy Sally and Vegas Vick displayed around the bar, as well as eight big-screen TVs, Keno and poker machines and Golden Tee Golf, free WiFi, soft-tip dart boards, Diamond pool tables, trivia classic touch screen game, a 24-hour menu and happy hour specials.

Grimaldi's announces dining specials

Grimaldi's Coal Brick-Oven Pizzeria, 9595 S. Eastern Ave., Suite 100, is offering red or white sangria for $6 a glass. The restaurant also is offering Tuesday Tastings from open to close every Tuesday, featuring half off glasses and bottles of wine now through September. The offer excludes house wine and sangria and is not available on featured wines or with any other offers.

El Segundo Sol plans June dining events

El Segundo Sol at Fashion Show mall, 3200 Las Vegas Blvd. South, is scheduled to host a fundraiser for the Women's Development Center from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday. The nonprofit organization provides quality housing services to low-income Clark County residents.

The event is set to feature tacos, margaritas and music. Tickets are $100 per person and can be purchased by calling 796-7770 or by visiting wdclv.org.

The restaurant plans to offer Loco Hour specials all day Sunday, including margaritas for $5 (Prickly Pear, Big Stick or strawberry) and red or white sangria for $4. Food offerings include Atomic cheese nachos for $2.75 and beef quesadillas for $5.

On June 25, the restaurant plans to host a Cooking Fiesta cooking class with chef Terry Lynch from 10 a.m. to noon. Learn how to prepare (and sample) sizzlin' shrimp and carne fajitas with Oaxacan black beans, Prickly Pear margarita, white sangria with melon Riesling and coconut and mango paletas.

Morton's unveils new drink selections

Morton's The Steakhouse, 400 E. Flamingo Road, recently added new drink selections to its menu, including boutique and hard-to-find wines.

Also, to celebrate Morton's being named "The Official Steakhouse of The PGA Tour," a new Above Par wine menu was created, featuring world-class wines. The menu includes the first vintage wine from Jack Nicklaus' reserve line, a 2008 Jack Nicklaus Private Reserve (Napa), an Ernie Els Bordeaux (Stellenbosch, South Africa) and Greg Norman Shiraz Reserve (Adelaide, Australia).

Morton's also has created the Double Cross Mortini, with $1 of every one sold going to Birdies for the Brave, a nonprofit organization that supports military homefront groups.

Presidio offers Business Lunch

Presidio at The District at Green Valley Ranch, 2265 Village Walk Drive, is offering a Business Lunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday.

During that time, Presidio serves larger lunch portions in about 60 minutes on the patio or inside the dining room.

Brio continues Thursday Martini Night

Brio Tuscan Grille at Town Square Las Vegas, 6653 Las Vegas Blvd. South, is offering $5 Martini Night on Thursdays from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Social House at Crystals launches weekly event for locals

Social House inside Crystals at CityCenter, 3720 Las Vegas Blvd. South, recently launched Kudasai, a weekly dinner party dedicated to Las Vegas locals and those who work in the restaurant and nightlife industry.

Kudasai, which means "to give" in Japanese, offers 50 percent off food. Reservations are required. Seating begins at 8 p.m. each Wednesday.

Marssa at Loews Las Vegas Resort, 101 Montelago Blvd., recently introduced a Hundred Calorie Happy Hour. The menu offers $8 low-calorie cocktails, including signature drinks such as the Skinny Margarita, Tropical Life Saver and the Bikini-tini. The drinks are available any time.

Tommy Bahama's to host Thursday patio parties

Tommy Bahama's Restaurant & Bar at Town Square Las Vegas, 6605 Las Vegas Blvd. South, plans to host Patio Thursdays on its outdoor patio from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursdays.

The weekly events will feature Island Time small plates and cocktails, specialty rum drinks from the restaurant's collection of more than 175 rums and live music.

Small plates will include tuna poke, fish tacos, prime burger sliders, pork lumpia, candied beet salad, calamari noodles, jerk chicken lollipops and steak sliders, all priced from $5 to $10.

Rum flights are being designed especially for the patio parties, with themes such as spiced rum, muddled drink and flavor-infused rum. Each flight will feature three signature cocktails for $10.

The Island Time menu is available from 4 to 7 p.m. daily in addition to Patio Thursdays.

King's Fish House plans Lobster Festival

King's Fish House at The District at Green Valley Ranch, 2255 Village Walk Drive, No. 139, plans to present Lobster Festival through July 5.

During Lobster Festival, patrons can enjoy lobster bisque, lobster deviled eggs, New England lobster roll, steak and lobster Oscar and whole live lobsters in eight to 10 sizes and two preparation styles (steamed or clam baked). A 1.25-pound lobster meal with side dishes will start at $25.85.

Smashburger offers deal for UNLV students

Smashburger at 4725 S. Maryland Parkway is offering a Rebel Special for UNLV students who show their RebelCard.

The deal features a classic Smashburger, Smashfries or regular fries and a 16-ounce fountain drink for $8, plus tax.

The Maryland Parkway location of Smashburger also accepts RebelCards as forms of payment.

Roy's Wine Club to meet

Roy's Hawaiian Fusion Cuisine, 620 E. Flamingo Road, plans to host a waina hui (wine club) tasting from 5 to 6:30 p.m. the third Friday of the month. The next one is set for June 17.

Each tasting features a sampling of Roy's signature appetizers. Members receive a wine glass, an invitation to all wine club events, an invitation to Roy's select seasonal events, a 10 percent reduction on bottled wine purchased at Roy's and reduced pricing for select Roy's wine dinners.

The cost to attend a tasting is $20 for wine club members and $25 for nonmembers.
