Las Vegas Epicurean Affair set
for Thursday at the Palazzo

The Las Vegas Epicurean Affair is scheduled for Thursday at The Pools at the Palazzo, 3355 Las Vegas Blvd. South.

The annual event is sponsored by the Nevada Restaurant Association (NvRA) and will feature samplings of cuisine and cocktails from restaurants and beverage purveyors. The Las Vegas Epicurean Affair package features a luxury suite at the Palazzo or The Venetian, two general admission tickets to the Affair, two-for-one well drinks at Salute Lounge, complimentary line pass/admission to LAVO nightclub and a buy-one-get-one-half-off ticket deal for a gondola ride.

Restaurants scheduled to participate include Binion's Ranch Steakhouse, Dos Caminos, Emeril Lagasse's Delmonico and Table 10, Gilley's, Hash House A Go Go, Lagasse's Stadium Lavo, Maggiano's, Maro Batali's Carnevino, Max Brenner, Memphis Championship Barbecue, Morels French Steakhouse & Bistro, Nobu Las Vegas, Origin India Restaurant & Bar, Sushi Samba, Tao, Valentino and Zine Noodles.

The Affair is scheduled from 7 to 10 p.m. General admission is $100. VIP tickets are $150 for early admission at 6 p.m. Proceeds benefit the NvRA's educational and scholarship programs.

El Segundo Sol plans
cooking fiesta class

El Segundo Sol at Fashion Show Mall, 3200 Las Vegas Blvd. South, plans to host a cooking fiesta class from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday.

Chef Terry Lynch plans to show guests how to prepare guacamole with goat cheese and pomegranate, lobster and shrimp enchiladas with spicy tomatillo salsa, cucumber-mint margaritas and agave-mint-run coolers and tres leches cake for dessert.

Senor Frog's to open
Treasure Island location

Senor Frog's plans to open its third location in the United States at Treasure Island, 3300 Las Vegas Blvd. South.

Senior Frog's has signed a multi-year lease. The company currently has locations in Myrtle Beach, S.C., Mexico, the Caribbean and Hawaii.

Construction is set to begin this year.

Sonrisa Grill to host Tacos & Tequila festival at Lake Las Vegas

Sonrisa Grill at The Village Lake Las Vegas, 30 Via Brianza, Suite 100, plans to host a Tacos & Tequila festival in conjunction with Back Bar USA from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday.

The event will feature the area's top restaurants showcasing their signature tacos, guacamole and salas, with awards and People's Choice recognition to be given to winners in each of those categories. Tequila producers, entrepreneurs and distributors, including sponsors Casadores, Jose Cuervo, Patron and Cabo Wabo, will be in attendance to showcase the best blanco, reposado and anejo tequilas. More than 30 varieties will be available.

The festival also is set to feature local artists in a Mexican Artist Exposition, live mariachi music and entertainment. A family area with dogs, clowns, inflatable rides and taquitos also is planned, along with charity auctions, prize giveaways and a raffle for a 2011 Toyota Camry from Findlay Toyota, with proceeds to benefit New Vista Community. Morton's the Steakhouse unveils new drink selections

Morton's The Steakhouse, 400 E. Flamingo Road, recently added new drink selections to its menu, including boutique and hard-to-find wines.

Also, to celebrate Morton's being named "The Official Steakhouse of The PGA Tour," a new Above Par wine menu was created, featuring world-class wines. The menu includes the first vintage wine from Jack Nicklaus' reserve line, a 2008 Jack Nicklaus Private Reserve (Napa), an Ernie Els Bordeaux (Stellenbosch, South Africa) and Greg Norman Shiraz Reserve (Adelaide, Australia).

Morton's also has created the Double Cross Mortini, with $1 of every one sold going to Birdies for the Brave, a nonprofit organization that supports military homefront groups that provide critical programs and services for wounded warriors and military families.

Morton's also has added to its beer menu, which features Lindemans Raspberry Lambic (Belgium), Fuller's 2010 Vintage Ale (England) and Paulaner Hefe Wiezen (Germany), along with Orval Trappist Ale (Belgium).

Raising Cane's locations to collect cell Phones for soldiers

Raising Cane's Chicken Fingers locations in the Las Vegas Valley will be collecting gently used mobile phones and donations for Cell Phones for Soldiers and local military members during May.

On Memorial Day, May 30, all of the profits and collected phones will be donated to Cell Phones for Soldiers, a nonprofit group dedicated to providing free calls home to U.S. armed forces. The USO, a nonprofit organization that works to life the spirits of America's troops and their families, plans to distribute calling cards through its Las Vegas center.

wine and cooking classes

Wine radio show host Les Kincaid and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas plan to present a series of wine and cooking classes from 6 to 8:30 p.m. on select dates in May.

Summer Salads is scheduled for today at the Ferguson Bath & Kitchen Gallery. Learn how to transform fresh vegetables and lettuce into dishes that are healthy, tasty and easy to prepare.
