Aliante aids shelter
The Aliante master-planned community will host its fifth annual Ice Cream Sunday and Pet Adoption from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. today. The event is free and open to the public at Aliante's Nature Discovery Park in North Las Vegas.
Free ice cream will be provided to visitors by Meadow Gold, along with entertainment and music by D.J. Tony, face painting, bounce houses, games and prizes. A highlight of the event will be the Ice Cream Sunday Olympics, featuring a Hula-Hoop Scoop and Pool Duel, Frozen T-Shirt Contest. Other food and refreshments will be available for sale.
The Lied Animal Shelter will supervise the pet adoption in the park. Adoptable dogs representing a variety of breeds and ages will be brought from the shelter throughout the day.
"We are very pleased to co-sponsor this fifth annual benefit for Lied Animal Shelter," said Dan Naef, senior vice president of North Valley Enterprises LLC, the developer of Aliante.
"This event will benefit an organization that cares for, and finds loving homes for abandoned animals on a daily basis. Aliante has been hosting pet adoptions since 2003 and with more families living here than ever before, we're confident that this will be our most successful Ice Cream Sunday and Pet Adoption to date," Naef said.
Nature Discovery Park features a dinosaur dig play area, prehistoric-themed play equipment and a water-spraying serpent. The park is located at 2627 Nature Park Drive, near the southeast corner of Interstate 215, the Las Vegas Beltway, and Aliante Parkway.
Along with annual pet adoptions, Aliante has also hosted four Trails & Tails running and walking events, which have raised many thousands of dollars for the Lied Animal Shelter, he said.
Today's Ice Cream Sunday and Pet Adoption event will be co-sponsored by North Valley Enterprises, Lied Animal Shelter and KSNE, 106.5-FM.
