Amodei ad takes new shot at Washington

The Mark Amodei campaign against Washington added a chapter with the release of the Republican House candidate's newest TV commercial today.

In his 30-second ad, Amodei, former state party chairman, again raps President Barack Obama and Sen. Harry Reid, who "instead of a recovery... have given us more debt, taxes and unemployment."

Says Amodei: "I’m going to create Nevada jobs by reducing taxes and regulations in Washington."

It's Amodei's third television spot in the race to the Sept. 13 special election to fill the vacancy in the Reno-and-rural-based 2nd Congressional District.

In the campaign that will be viewed as a shadow referendum on Obama and the national parties, Amodei's commercials focus on issues like government debt, taxes and regulation. None mention his Democratic opponent Kate Marshall.

Amodei makes another local promise of sorts in the ad. He said he "will not rest until federal lands are freed up for more ranching, mining and energy development."

Marshall, Nevada state treasurer, has not appeared on TV yet. In an video posted to her website intended to introduce her as a House candidate, she too criticizes members of Congress who "can't focus on the fact that the middle class need jobs" while "the special interests get ahead."
