An act of kind efficiency at the DMV

The line outside the Department of Motor Vehicles at 2701 E. Sahara Ave. stretched 30 deep on Tuesday morning. It was 7:15 a.m.

Although there was a bite in the air on the second day of spring, those assembled seemed grateful no wind was blowing. It made the wait until 8 a.m. feel almost pleasant.

With 25 minutes to go, the line snaked around the corner of the venerable state office building, which has a brass plaque reminding passersby that it was constructed during the administration of Gov. Mike O’Callaghan and Lt. Gov. Harry Reid.

With 20 minutes to go, the doors of the office opened, and a line of DMV employees came outside to warmly greet the early birds with smiles and advice to ensure they moved through the process as quickly as possible. It was a nice touch.

At 8 a.m., the office opened for business. But that few minutes of assistance was not only efficient, but also made the morning a little easier for about 100 souls seeking vehicle registrations and driver’s licenses.
