AROUND TOWN: Remember a loved one at Palm Mortuaries

Palm Mortuaries, Cemeteries and Crematories is holding its 11th annual Tree of Memory program, an event designed to memorialize lost loved ones during the holiday season. Anyone in the community is invited to participate.

Here's how it works: people can buy an ornament for a donation of $10 to $25, and Palm will engrave the loved one's name on it. Then you can hang the ornaments on one of the memory trees anytime through Dec. 19. The trees are located at the Palm locations in Henderson, at 800 S. Boulder Highway; in the northwest, at 6701 N. Jones Blvd.; and in Green Valley, at 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Palm also is scheduling tree lighting dedication ceremonies at each of the three locations.

All proceeds will be split equally among three local charities: the Boys and Girls Clubs of Las Vegas, the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Southern Nevada and the Shade Tree women's and children's shelter. Ornaments can be ordered at any of Palm's six locations. For more info, visit www.palmmortuary.com.
