Big time sports, Glendale and lessons to be learned

Complete Las Vegans who are watching closely as Las Vegas politicians nibble around the edges of luring a professional sports team (or two) with taxpayer money will want to pay close attention to what's going on in Glendale, Ariz. It's a mess no better explained than by George Will, who does so in this column.

Enjoy.

(Postscript: I grew up in Glendale and used to ride my bike right where the new Arizona Cardinal stadium is located. I have great affinity for my boyhood town. I am a season ticket holder (and a loyal fan) of the Arizona Cardinals. I can't tell you how much I enjoy the Glendale sports facility. However, I am also not a taxpayer in Glendale. In light of what Glendale politicians are trying to do now, I feel especially good about that.)
