Boy suspended from school for shooting imaginary bow and arrow

A 6-year-old boy has been suspended from his Cincinnati Catholic school for three days after he pretended to shoot an imaginary bow and arrow at recess, WCPO reports.
According to the boy's father, Matthew Miele, his son was playing outside when a teacher saw him shoot the imaginary bow and arrow and brought it to the principal's attention. His son was then called to the office.
Because his father said his son didn't have any malicious intent in the pretend bow and arrow, Miele said he didn't see anything wrong with the way his son was playing.
Miele said the school has a zero tolerance policy towards threatening gestures.
"The punishment is so severe [that] it's hard to try to make this a teachable moment for our kid so we can move forward in a healthy manner," he said.
Miele said his son will continue to attend Our Lady of Lourdes School for the remainder of the year, but that he and his wife are debating as to whether he will attend next year.
