Carolyn Goodman gets support from Jerry Lewis

Entertainer Jerry Lewis went to Sun City Summerlin on Sunday to stump for Carolyn Goodman, backing his longtime friend and neighbor’s candidacy for mayor of Las Vegas.

“I only hope that all of you will send me a note one day that I was right, that I was right on the money about Carolyn,” said Lewis, who made several references to the fact that he and the audience in the senior community were peers in age.

Sun City residents are much sought after in municipal elections because they turn out in larger numbers than residents in other parts of the city. About 350 people attended the forum.

“Do what I do when I get into that booth,” Lewis said, then joked that he’s voting because Goodman “gave me $30 already.”

Carolyn Goodman, wife of the outgoing Mayor Oscar Goodman, also noted that two televised debates are coming up: May 15 on KLAS-TV, Channel 8; and May 18 on “Face to Face with Jon Ralston,” KSNV-TV, Channel 3.

She and Clark County Commissioner Chris Giunchigliani emerged as the leaders from a field of 18 candidates last month to succeed Oscar Goodman, who is term-limited.

They face each other in the June 7 general election. Early voting begins May 21.
