PUBLIC MEETING TO PROVIDE INFORMATION ON US 95 IMPROVEMENT PROJECT

The Nevada Department of Transportation, the city of Las Vegas and the Federal Highway Administration invite residents to a public meeting on U.S. Highway 95 road improvements from 4 to 7 p.m. July 24 at the Centennial Hills Active Adult Center , 6601 N. Buffalo Drive.

Phase 2A of the U.S. 95 Northwest Corridor Improvements project is scheduled to address short- and long-term transportation needs along the U.S. 95 corridor from Ann Road to Durango Drive and is set to begin construction in 2014.

Improvements include widening the highway to three general purpose lanes and one HOV lane and auxiliary lanes in each direction. The project will also include construction of landscaping , aesthetic enhancements and the installation of sound walls in noise-sensitive areas.

Comments on the project will be accepted through 5 p.m. Aug . 9 . Email comments to info@dot.state.nv.us, with a reference to the U.S. 95 road widening in the subject line.

BLM SEEKS PUBLIC INPUT ON DRAFT WILDERNESS MANAGEMENT PROGRAM

Residents can offer input through Aug. 23. on the La Madre Mountain Wilderness and Rainbow Mountain Wilderness Draft Wilderness Management Plan and Environmental Assessment, according to the Bureau of Land Management Red Rock/Sloan Field Office and the U.S. Forest Service.

Meetings on the matter are set for 2 and 6 p.m. July 24 at the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area Visitor Center classroom.

The drafts can be viewed by visiting blm.gov/nv/st/en/fo/lvfo.html. Written comments may be addressed to lvwilderness@blm.gov, faxed to 702-515-5023 or mailed to Sendi Kalcic, Wilderness Specialist, Bureau of Land Management, 4701 N.
