SPRING CELEBRATION AND FOSTER CONNECTION PLANNED AT FLOYD LAMB PARK

The Spring Celebration and Foster Connection community event is scheduled from noon to 4 p.m. April 5 at Floyd Lamb Park at Tule Springs, 9200 Tule Springs Road.

OVERNIGHT TENT CAMPING EXPERIENCE PLANNED FOR DEVELOPMENTALLY DISABLED

Project D.I.R.T. plans to host an overnight tent camping experience for those 18 or older with developmental disabilities April 5-6 at Floyd Lamb Park at Tule Springs, 9200 Tule Springs Road.

The event includes arts and crafts, fishing, hiking, campfire songs, s’mores and barbecue. Participants must bring a sleeping bag and toothbrush.

MOVIE SCREENING PLANNED AT CENTENNIAL HILLS PARK AMPHITHEATER

A Ward 6 Movie in the Park is planned at 6:30 p.m. April 25 at the Centennial Hills Park Amphitheatre, 7101 N. Buffalo Drive. Families are invited to watch the movie “Planes.” Admission is free. People are encouraged to bring their own blankets or folding chairs.

NEW ZUMBA STUDIO OPENS

Z Crew Studios, a Zumba fitness-inspired studio, is open at 3165 N. Rainbow Blvd. in the Cheyenne Commons Shopping Center on the corner of Cheyenne Avenue.

Z Crew Studios was started by Mandy McKellar and Denise Schoepf as a fun, nontraditional form of exercise. Classes are led by local Zumba instructor Michelle Velez.

MONTHLONG CELEBRATION PLANNED AT FLOYD LAMB PARK

Horses4Heroes Days at Tule Springs, a monthlong celebration honoring local heroes and the horses that serve them every day, is scheduled through March 31 at Floyd Lamb Park at Tule Springs, 9200 Tule Springs Road.

Horses4Heroes is a national nonprofit equestrian military service group based in Las Vegas. The events, including free horseback rides for all ages, from small children to adults, are planned every weekend in March with weekday activities Tuesday through Friday. Daily activities include the popular HorsePlay, a mommy and me class for toddlers and preschoolers (ages 18 months to 6 years), beginning and intermediate lessons, and after-school programs for middle school and high school students.

TAX ASSISTANCE PROGRAM PLANNED

Volunteer Income Tax Assistance workers plan to help low- and moderate-income taxpayers complete their annual personal tax returns from noon to 5 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays through April 14 at the Centennial Hills Community Center, 6601 N. The Centennial Hills Library plans to host story time for babies from birth to 18 months at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. most Thursdays and story time for children ages 3-5 from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. most Wednesdays at 6711 N. MASTER GARDENERS TO HOST KIDS GARDENING CLASSES

The University of Nevada Cooperative Extension’s Junior Master Gardener program plans to offer hands-on gardening activities from 9 a.m. to noon every other Saturday at the Clark County Center for Urban Food Production, 4600 Horse Road.

Children ages 7-12 are invited to attend. The eight-session-per-semester class fee is $50. Students must register to participate.

The nonprofit RISE Education Resource Center, 3460 N. Rancho Drive, is seeking teaching volunteers for a variety of teen and adult courses hosted at the center.

RISE offers Spanish, math, science, German, art, robotics, and language arts classes for kids and courses on homeschooling and gluten-free eating for adults.

MOUNT CHARLESTON SEEKS SNOW PLAY VOLUNTEERS

The U.S. Forest Service is seeking volunteers to be a Snow Play Host on Mount Charleston. Every winter weekend, thousands of people flock to the mountains to play in the snow, and hosts will look to encourage visitors to have fun while reducing impact on the forest.

Hosts will also be asked to provide roadside information about snow play opportunities and engage visitors at snow play sites.

Volunteers must be 18 or older and able to work outdoors in cold conditions. Hosts are expected to work weekends and holidays, with shifts of three to six hours, through March.
