Child attends school despite being stabbed in face by mother

ATLANTA, Ga. — A 6-year-old child is hospitalized after allegedly being stabbed in the face by his mother Wednesday morning.

Atlanta police said the child showed up for class at Heritage Academy Elementary School in Atlanta with wounds on his face.

The child was taken to Children's Hospital of Atlanta at Hughes Spalding where his condition is unknown at this time.

Police said the mother has been taken into custody.

It is unclear what caused the stabbing.

Atlanta police are investigating the incident.
