Christopher Homes gets award at trade show

Christopher Homes, a long-time Summerlin home builder, was inducted into the Best in American Living Awards Hall of Fame at the National Association of Homebuilders 2009 International Builder Show, held in Las Vegas earlier this month.

The award, which was presented at an awards ceremony Jan. 19 at Wynn Las Vegas, recognizes home building professionals for design innovation, livability and marketplace success. Christopher Homes is the only Las Vegas home builder currently in the BALA Hall of Fame.

"We've been building homes for 27 years," said J. Christopher Stuhmer, chief executive officer and founder of Christopher Homes. "Along the way there have been defining moments that cause me to reflect on what we've accomplished over the years. This is one of those moments. It's a great honor to receive such a prestigious, national award."

Christopher Homes focuses on the luxury market, building homes in master-planned communities throughout Las Vegas that offer lifestyle amenities.

The home builder began building in Summerlin in 1991 and is responsible for more than 800 homes in 10 different neighborhoods throughout the community.

Currently, Christopher Homes has two actively selling neighborhoods in Summerlin, including Boulder Ridge in The Ridges and C2 Lofts in Summerlin Centre.

"We've had great success in Summerlin," Stuhmer said.

"The Summerlin brand is consistent with our own. Our custom, semi-custom and executive-style homes are ideal for this community that features a superior lifestyle and abundant amenities. Christopher Homes has always considered Summerlin a natural fit for our homes and those seeking one of the valley's most desirable addresses."

Boulder Ridge features 46 contemporary residences located in the exclusive village of The Ridges.

Floor plans range from 4,000 to more than 6,000 square feet and are priced starting at $1.7 million.

The neighborhood is located adjacent to Bear's Best Las Vegas golf course offering panoramic views of the Las Vegas Strip to the east and Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area to the west.

Executives from Christopher Homes also are developing C2 Lofts, a development of C2 Lofts LLC. Located in Summerlin Centre, C2 Lofts is Summerlin's first urban loft project.

Only six of 40 units remain in the first building. Available units range from 1,900 to 2,700 square feet and are priced starting in the upper $600,000s. Select floor plans offer a live/work component and a lease-to-own option.

"Christopher Homes has been a Summerlin home builder since the community's inception," said Kevin Orrock, top division executive for The Howard Hughes Corp., developer of Summerlin.

"The company has grown with the community, easily becoming one of the nation's best home builders. Christopher Homes' commitment to quality parallels that of the community. We look forward to our continuing relationship as Summerlin continues its development as one of the country's premier master-planned communities."

Summerlin began to take shape in 1990 and is located along the western rim of the Las Vegas Valley.

The community encompasses 22,500 acres with about 9,000 acres remaining to accommodate future growth within the master plan, including the community's urban core of Summerlin Centre.

The community is currently home to more than 95,000 residents.

Amenities include more than 100 neighborhood and village parks, more than 150 completed miles of the Summerlin trail system, nine golf courses, a dozen houses of worship, shopping centers, medical and cultural facilities, business parks, 23 public and private schools and nearly 100 actively selling floor plans.

Homes in the community are priced from the upper $100,000s to more than $2 million. For more information, visit summerlin.com or call 888-898-5015.
