Construction continues on Mesa Park

Construction continues on Summerlin's newest community park, The Mesa Park, which is expected to open in early 2009. According to Julie Cleaver, director of design and planning for The Howard Hughes Corp., developer of Summerlin, the park's lighting has been installed and contractors are busy working on the ball fields and stadium seating areas.

"We've made significant progress on the park," she said. "Every week there's something new to see. That's especially exciting for Mesa residents who are eagerly anticipating the park's opening in their neighborhood."

The 19-acre park, located on Town Center Drive and Mesa Park Drive, will contribute to the recreational offerings of the village by adding tennis courts, three Little League baseball fields (one with stadium-style seating), a basketball court, tot lot, covered picnic ramadas and a large open playground.

While The Mesa Park is the largest in the village, several smaller parks are located in every Mesa neighborhood. Ladera, the first neighborhood to open in The Mesa, features its own park with a pool area, picnic ramadas, barbecue areas, open lawn and children's playgrounds.

"The smaller neighborhood parks create smaller and more intimate settings for neighbor interaction and informal play, while the larger community parks accommodate athletic leagues and larger social and recreational activities," Cleaver said.

Three home builders are selling 22 different floor plans in Ladera.

Ladera Canyon by Richmond American Homes features homes that range from 1,750 to 2,800 square feet and are priced from the high $300,000s.

Ladera Crest residences by KB Home range from 2,388 to 2,883 square feet and are priced from the low $300,000s.

Ladera Ridge homes, also by KB Home, range from 1,642 to 2,103 square feet and are priced from the high $200,000s.

Ladera Terrace by Engle Homes features homes from 2,031 to 2,574 square feet, priced from the high $300,000s.

Upon completion, Ladera will be home to more than 600 residences.

The Mesa is a nearly 500-acre residential village in the southernmost region of Summerlin. The village features a desert contemporary architectural style. Streets are lined with desert-appropriate trees and flowering bushes that emphasize shade and color.

Summerlin began to take shape in 1990. It is a 22,500-acre master-planned community located along the western rim of the Las Vegas Valley.

The community is currently home to more than 95,000 residents. With about 7,500 acres still to develop, including its urban core, Summerlin Centre, Summerlin is continuing to unfold.

The community is home to more than 100 neighborhood and village parks, more than 150 completed miles of the Summerlin trail system, nine golf courses, a dozen houses of worship, shopping centers, medical and cultural facilities, business parks, 22 public and private schools and more than 100 actively selling floor plans.

Homes are available in a variety of styles -- from single-family homes to townhomes, condominiums and lofts -- priced from the $200,000s to more than $2 million.

Custom home sites in The Ridges are priced from the $500,000s.

Luxury apartment homes offer monthly rents starting from the $800s.
