Cop goes above and beyond for burglary victim’s birthday

A Jacksonville police officer went above and beyond to make sure a young boy got a birthday gift after the boy’s mother’s car was burglarized and his gift was stolen.

According to First Coast News, Officer Derek Pratico responded to a car burglary in late March and found the victim upset because her son’s birthday gift was taken from the car.

Pratico took the matter into his own hands and purchased a birthday gift for the boy and took it to him the next day.

“I did not do this for any recognition,” told First Coast News. “I just felt it was the right thing to do at that moment.”

Pratico also gave the boy a birthday cake and the mother a $100 gift card.
