Couple equips home with Rolladens after attempted break-in

Carl and Anne Simons came home to find their southwestern valley home had been the site of an attempted break-in.

However, according to the couple, they no longer worry about burglars invading their lives now that they have Rolladen Rolling Shutters on 15 doors and windows on their 3,200-square-foot home.

"You feel violated and we were just scared because I travel by myself occasionally while leaving my wife at home sometimes," said Carl Simons, who, with his wife retired to Las Vegas four years ago after living in Hawaii.

"Without the Rolladens, I felt my marathon-running career was over because I didn't feel safe about leaving her home alone."

The Simons live in a gated community. Their home backs up to a golf course that provides a view of the city.

"We like the view in the morning, but we also enjoy the idea that we can secure our home when we leave," he said. "Even more importantly, we like to secure our home at night. We feel much safer now."

Anne Simons said "When the Rolladens go down, I feel secure.

The couple had never had rolling shutters before moving to Las Vegas.

"We had not heard about them," Anne Simons said. "We learned about them at a community gathering where the sales person convinced us that the rolling shutters were exactly what we needed. We had already been burglarized at the time, so were looking for protection."

The Simones lauded the service provided by Rolladen.

"We had two separate crews and they were both excellent," Carl Simon said. "They cleaned up after themselves; and cleaned and painted everything. We didn't have to do a darned thing."

Rolladen Rolling Shutters are roll-filled slats operated manually, electrically or by remote control.

According to the company, the shutters lower power bills by as much as 64 percent as well as a preventative measure against burglaries.

Company offices are located at 6168 W. Charleston Blvd. and at 4405 Wagon Trail Ave. in the southwest valley near Arville Street and Sunset Road.
