Democrats keeping up the organizing effort

The state Democratic Party continues to keep its volunteers mobilized. This weekend, the party is hosting a "Day of Action," bringing out volunteers to register voters across the state.

The effort is billed in an e-mail to party members as a way to "show Pres. Obama and Sen. Reid how the 2008 election changed Nevada forever."

It's smart for the party to try to keep people involved at a time when campaigns aren't at their most active. It's also smart to tie Sen. Harry Reid to the popular President Barack Obama the way they're doing.

Republicans have said they're going to mount a push to turn back the 100,000-plus voter advantage Democrats built for the 2008 election, but it remains to be seen how organized and effective that effort will be.
