Desert Crest offers ‘fun’ in the sun

Pulte Homes' Desert Crest neighborhood in the southwestern Las Vegas Valley offers a wide range of recreational opportunities.

A focus on recreation was readily apparent as the Southern Nevada winter ended with record high temperatures and Desert Crest residents poured outdoors to visit the park and swimming pool.

"As soon as the temperatures reached the 80s, the neighborhood really came alive," said Katie Tickner, a resident of Desert Crest and an employee of Pulte, the developer. "Each day when I come home, I see neighbors spending time in the swimming pool, or sitting out in the park while watching their kids enjoy the tot lot."

Recreational amenities include a swimming pool and spa, a small park, playground and bathhouse.

"The appeal of the neighborhood is that it offers a setting with all single-family homes, but with recreational amenities not commonly associated with a traditional neighborhood," Tickner said.

Desert Crest is a gated neighborhood offering on-site amenities and easy home maintenance as the homeowners association cares for all front yards, in addition to common areas, according to Pulte.

Three two-story floor plans are offered, ranging from 1,480 to 2,191 square feet with as many as four bedrooms and 2 1/2 baths.

All homes come with a two-car garage. Prices start from the upper $200,000s.

Fewer than 80 homes remain unsold, according to Pulte. The builder has a special offer on two homes under construction, both in the 1480 floor plan.

The first, situated on a corner site, has three bedrooms and 2 1/2 baths. It features stainless steel appliances, granite counter tops, 2-inch faux-wood blinds, a washer and dryer. The home is priced at $311,865 and expected to be ready for July delivery.

The other home, expected to be available about the same time, is priced at $294,670.

All Pulte homes are built to exceed Energy Star standards by at least 20 percent and have blown-in cellulose insulation and low-e windows.

Pulte Homes also offers its Signature Standards program, which includes numerous brand-name amenities as standard features. Among them are Corian solid surface countertops, York heating and air-conditioning systems, Mohawk flooring, Sherwin-Williams paint, Moen faucets, Kohler plumbing fixtures, General Electric appliances, Schlage door hardware and Sea Gull lighting.
