DINING: New wine, free martinis and more

  Representatives of Rao’s at Caesars Palace will introduce Rao’s signature wines from 6 to 9 tonight (June 19)
at Whole Foods Market at Town Square, 6605 Las Vegas Blvd. South, and from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday at the store at 100 S. Green Valley Parkway in Henderson. Food and wine samples will be available, and six people at each event will receive signed copies of the Rao’s family cookbook.
  The Double Down Saloon, 4640 Paradise Road, is celebrating National Martini Day with two-for-one bacon martinis today (June 19).
   Members of the Las Vegas Police Protective Association and the Henderson Firefighters Benevolent Association will compete in an eating contest at noon Saturday (June 20) involving the 6-pound burrito at the NASCAR Café at the Sahara, 2535 Las Vegas Blvd. South. The public is invited to cheer on their favorite team. Fifteen percent of the proceeds of all food and beverages purchased at the café on the day of the event and on Father’s Day will be divided between the nonprofit LVPPA Metro Charities Inc. and the Henderson Firefighters Benevolent Association.       
  Dads get a free brunch Sunday (June 21) with the purchase of two brunches at Envy the Steakhouse at the Renaissance Las Vegas, 3400 Paradise Road, and a $20 gift card to be used on a subsequent dinner visit.
  Through the end of the month, local residents who show a ticket stub from Bette Midler’s “The Showgirl Must Go On” and Nevada ID following the show can receive a free Divine Showgirl Sundae at Serendipity 3 at Caesars Palace with the purchase of an entrée.
