PICK OF THE WEEK:
ABOVE THE CRUST
7810 W. Ann Road, 702-749-7500
The motto here is “the crust is the canvas.” And you just know art is being created with these New York-style, thin-crust pies. All the traditional ingredients are available for the small (10-inch) or large (16-inch) pizzas highlighted by the AC Special with pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms, peppers and onions. Specialty pies include Buffalo chicken, Philly cheese steak, Greek (spinach, feta cheese, mozzarella, olives), BLT and chicken cordon bleu with grilled chicken, ham, mozzarella and bleu cheese dressing. Popular subs are served with fries or homemade pasta salad and include Italian, chicken or meatball parmigiana and chicken Philly. There are calzones (spinach, ham, pepperoni), strombolis (Greek, grilled chicken, meatball parmigiana) and salads such as grilled chicken, chicken Caesar, Asian Zest and antipasto with field greens, tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, mozzarella, salami and pepperoni. Several appetizers are fried mozzarella, garlic rolls, Italian Nachos (thinly sliced, deep-fried potatoes smothered in cheese and topped with pepperoni and salami) and chicken wing or fingers with choice of sauce. Pizzas begin at $8.95. Above the Crust is open daily from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. — Jack Bulavsky
