Dining Pick of the Week: Baja Taco

Baja Taco

4225 S. Fort Apache Road, south of West Flamingo Road; 702-432-8225

The Baja California peninsula is in northwestern Mexico whose land mass separates the Pacific Ocean from the Gulf of California. Baja is also a state of mind that conjures up cold beverages, tacos and burritos. At Baja Taco, footlong burritos are filled with rice, beans and pico de gallo and are made with shredded beef, ground beef or charbroiled chicken. Custom burritos are made to order with items such as chile relleno, french fries, guacamole, sour cream, carne asada and carnitas. Combo wet burritos are topped with enchilada sauce, cheese and pico de gallo. There are also quesadillas, nachos, soft or hard shell tacos, taco platters and combination plates with choice of chile relleno, tamale, enchilada and taco. The taco salad comes in a flour shell with beans, lettuce, tomatoes, cheese and sour cream and can be ordered vegetarian or with beef or chicken. Family meals include one pint each of beans and rice, tortillas, chips, pico de gallo and choice of chicken, carne asada or carnitas. Among the sides are corn tostada, taquitos with guacamole, carne asada fries and corn quesadilla. Burritos start at $1.99 and combination plates at $4.99. Baja Taco is open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.
