PICK OF THE WEEK:
CHEEBURGER CHEEBURGER
8390 S. Rainbow Blvd., 220-3912
Let's start by explaining why the "s" is missing from Cheeburger. On second thought, ask someone who remembers John Belushi and his famous sketch from "Saturday Night Live." This colorful diner is nirvana if you enjoy creating your own hamburger, salad or milkshake. The 100 percent Angus burgers (never frozen) range from 5.5 to 20 ounces and can be topped with one of nine cheeses and more than two dozens toppings, including artichoke hearts, relish, horseradish sauce, chopped garlic, teriyaki sauce and coleslaw. Other popular sandwiches are veggie burger, grilled cheese, BLT and grilled portbello mushroom melt. Toppings (cucumbers, crispy noodles, sunflower seeds, grape tomatoes, water chestnuts, baby corn) are available for create-your-own salads, along with house salads such as fried chicken, Cheeburger and turkey burger. There are fresh-cut fries and onion rings, CheePlatters and CheeWraps. Then there are malts and milkshakes with all the flavors to create your favorite, including almond, apple pie, pistachio, Neapolitan, mud pie, root beer, double chocolate, coconut, Swiss chocolate, butterscotch and coffee. Cheeburgers begin at $5.99 and malts and shakes start at $3.99. Cheeburger Cheeburger is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday. - Jack Bulavsky
