PICK OF THE WEEK:
KOMEX FUSION EXPRESS
633 N. Decatur Blvd.
at West Washington Avenue, 646-1612
Can't decide what to eat today? KoMex Fusion has it all: Mexican, Korean, American and Chinese. The fusion tacos are inspired by Korean barbecue and are served on corn tortillas with meat (steak, chicken, marinated or shredded pork), marinated green and purple cabbage, onions, cilantro and pico de gallo. You can have that taco on a flour tortilla or as a lettuce wrap, along with fusion burritos, tostada and quesadillas. There are traditional Mexican dishes such as flautas, carne asada, bean and cheese burrito, and taquitos. Several American favorites are one-third pound Angus cheeseburger with bacon and fries and barbecue pulled pork sliders with coleslaw. Other sandwiches are made with choice of meat, mayo, lettuce, onion, tomatoes, avocado, Korean hot sauce, jalapeno and kimchi. Featured Asian dishes are stir-fried vegetables with tofu, bulgogi (marinated Korean-style meat with white rice), shrimp fried rice, kimchi fried rice with beef, chicken or Spam with fried egg, chow fettuccine, Mongolian beef or chicken and musubi, where Spam and rice are wrapped in dried seaweed. Fusion tacos start at $1.29 and Asian favorites at $5.99. KoMex Fusion is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday. - Jack Bulavsky
