PICK OF THE WEEK:
LA BELLE TERRE BREAD
8390 W. Sahara Ave., 702-685-7712
There can never be enough bakeries, and when the bakery adds a dining room menu, everything is a little better. Start the day with La Tartine, a basket of bread, jam, butter, croissants and a small coffee. Or enjoy delicate crepes such as Nutella, banana and chocolate, strawberry, apricot or cherry. All homemade soups are served with French baguette and include Cherie’s clam chowder, French onion, Cajun chicken and sausage gumbo, and vegetarian vegetable. Several sandwiches are pressed hot croissant, ham or turkey panini, vegetarian, ham, turkey or salami with Brie or Swiss on ciabatta roll and Rustic (prosciutto, mozzarella, basil pesto, egg, butter). The special of the house is croque monsieur, where sourdough is topped with Dijon, ham, Gruyere, bechamel sauce, another layer of sourdough and more melted Gruyere. It becomes a croque madame when the sandwich is topped with a fried egg. There are salads (chef, Caprese) and quiche (Lorraine, Pacific salmon, ratatouille), and coffee is served in a French press. Crepes begin at $5, and sandwiches start at $4.50. La Belle Terre is open from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday.
