PICK OF THE WEEK:
SUNSET & VINES
MonteLago village, Lake Las Vegas, 40 Costa di Lago, Suite 120, 382-7900
Many restaurants claim to have a unique wine list to go with a unique menu. Sunset & Vines lives up to that claim. There are more than 500 wines to accompany entrees such as Angus filet mignon, thick-cut loin lamb chops, grilled Atlantic salmon, shrimp scampi and roasted organic chicken breast piccata with garlic roasted Yukon Gold potatoes and sautéed seasonal vegetables. There is a soup of the day and salads, including organic baby greens with fresh seasonal tomato in balsamic-Dijon vinaigrette and the popular Sunset & Vines Caesar with crumbled English Stilton. Featured desserts are New York cheesecake and poached pear with mascarpone. Among the tapas are fried spinach, seared salmon tacos, roasted organic jalapeno-infused pork sausage with chimichurri and sweet potato fries. The international cheese menu has Taleggio (Italy), Mimolette (hard cow's milk from France), Parmigiano Reggiano, Manchego (pasteurized sheep's milk from Spain) and Salemville Gorgonzola from Amish country in Wisconsin. Dinners begin at $18 and tapas at $4. Sunset & Vines is open nightly for dinner at 5 p.m. A tapas and cheese board is served from noon to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, and lunch is served from noon to 4 p.m. Friday through Sunday. -- Jack Bulavsky
