PICK OF THE WEEK:
TRIPLE PLAY
1875 S. Decatur Blvd. at South Oakey Boulevard, 364-0808
Triple Play is a long-standing restaurant and lounge with a loyal following. One reason for that loyal following is its menu ---- one of the better tavern menus in town. Its famous beef sirloin or chicken Philly cheesesteak sandwiches are served on Amoroso rolls, and there's even a veggie cheesesteak with zucchini, julienne carrots, roasted red peppers, mushrooms and grilled onions. Other sandwiches are half-pound Angus beef hamburgers, a one-third pound American Buffalo burger, footlong hot dogs, turkey melt, chicken breast club, tuna stack, French dip, New York steak on grilled sourdough and Triple Play grilled cheese with cheddar, jack and American. There are large salads (turkey and ham, Caesar taco, chicken fingers), soups and chili, thin-crust pizzas, hoagies, Buffalo-style chicken wings, tacos, quesadillas and wedges of battered macaroni and cheese lightly fried and served with ranch dressing. Breakfast is served from midnight to 10:30 a.m. Monday through Friday and until noon on weekends and includes biscuits and gravy, three-egg omelets, oatmeal, chicken fried steak and eggs, and pancakes. Check out daily lunch and dinner specials such as Monday rib-eye steak and Wednesday beef pot roast. Happy Hour is daily from 3 to 6 p.m. Sandwiches start at $4.99, and the breakfast special is $3.99. Triple Play is open 24/7. - Jack Bulavsky
