Drone captures seaside California city as it erodes into ocean — VIDEO

A drone captured footage of the coastal Northern California city Pacifica being eroded away as a result of El Niño.

In a statement, City Manager Lorie Tinfow said, “El Niño is hitting the city’s coastline very hard and creating almost daily reports of impacts to both public and private property."

As the ground below residences continues to crumble, Tinfow declared a state of emergency in Pacifica saying that the area is uninhabitable, according to Mashable.

"I love it here, and I'm not willing to leave," resident Michelle Mackay said to NBC News. "To say 'Oh, we have to go out' — why? If it falls, it's not going to fall in 10 seconds. We'll have plenty of time to get out of the front door."

Check out the video above showing portions of the cliff breaking off and falling into the sea.
