Elixir restaurant and lounge to focus on locals

Looking back at the past year of developing Elixir, a restaurant and gaming establishment in Henderson, owners and management said it was a smooth process.

“And picking the name was the hardest part,” said Bobbie Rihel, the general manager of Elixir. “It’s like the nine months you spend fighting over the name of your kid. Everyone has to agree. Elixir was the name that kept coming back to the top of the white board. It works. We are your cure, your remedy, your elixir.”

Rihel’s baby is in the final stages of design and is scheduled to open Sept. 21 at 2920 N. Green Valley Parkway.

The establishment is managed by the owners of Remedy’s Tavern.

Rihel and Mike Nigro, a managing member of Remedy’s and Elixir, grew up in Las Vegas.

The duo said they remembered the ambiance of classic bars and how welcoming those places were to the community.

“It’s nice to have a local place where people know who you are,” Rihel said. “You work in a big restaurant on the Strip, you might not get the same person back. With local taverns, you get to know your guests.”

Establishing itself as a locals bar, Remedy’s Tavern offers gaming and food with more of a sports vibe.

The bar and gaming establishment has two Henderson locations: 3265 St. Rose Parkway and 530 Conestoga Way.

But the owners wanted to see the establishment grow into something new.

“We were looking to do something, but we had already done the sports bar concept,” Nigro said. “We wanted to do something a little different. We wanted to go back to that old-school Vegas concept with the place.”

About a year ago, Rihel, who had previously managed the Remedy’s Tavern on St. Rose Parkway, said the company started to look around for a place that could house this new concept.

When touring different buildings, the owners walked into the former Daddy Macs and knew it was the place for which they were looking.

“We still will have great gaming and make all our food in-house,” Rihel said. “We still want it to be that home away from home.”

But with red velvet drapes and chandeliers, Rihel said the vibe of Elixir is expected to be different than Remedy’s.

Nigro said Remedy’s was already accustomed to doing events once a month.

But Elixir is also expected to have an entertainment scene Friday and Saturday nights.

“We walked in and saw the stage,” Rihel said. “We knew we needed to keep it. It’s been fun developing our vision for entertainment for the year.”

Part of her inspiration to have entertainment was date nights with her husband.

“We always are looking for a new place to go,” she said.

Rihel said there is always apprehension in opening a new establishment, especially when some businesses aren’t doing as well.

“But we’ve been lucky for the last four years,” she said. “I am confident we can be successful.”

She said it’s not just good news for the company to be able to expand but also for the community

“Any time you can add jobs to the community, it’s a good thing,” she said.

She added that having the Galaxy Green Valley Luxury + Theatre open around the corner and other businesses that are reviving Green Valley Town Center, 4500 E. Sunset Road, the area is being reinvigorated.

Rihel hopes Elixir becomes the talk of the town.

“I want everyone in town to know us and talk about us,” she said.

Elixir is expected to be open 6 to 2 a.m. daily.
