ENTERTAINMENT: Louie Anderson to close Excalibur showcase

  Louie Anderson will close his “Larger Than Life” show at the Excalibur on Aug. 1, producer Adam Steck says.

  The comedian has shared a second-floor venue with “The Thunder from Down Under” since April 2006. There had been recent talk of Anderson moving downstairs to an enclosed lounge space and/or turning the current show into a dinner show with more of an autobiographical format.

  Steck said both ideas turned out to be “the wrong timing,” especially with so many shows at the interconnected Excalibur, Luxor and Mandalay Bay.

  Instead, the comedian will devote more time to the “Stand Up Boot Camp(s)” he has been holding for aspiring performers around the country.
