Ex-NBA player Jerome Williams becomes world’s tallest bull rider

They held a mechanical bull riding event for charity called “Last Media Standing” — the Last Cowboy Standing Professional Bull Riders stop at Mandalay Bay is Friday and Saturday — at PBR Rock Bar & Grill on the Strip Wednesday afternoon.

First, a guy who looked like the lead singer from Flock of Seagulls rode the mechanical bull. I was told this was Murray the Magician, from “America’s Got Talent.”

Then Jerome Williams, from America’s Got Rebounding Talent, went.

You just don’t see too many 6-foot-9-inch bull riders. But the Junkyard Dog, as he was called during his 11 seasons in the NBA, rode the mechanical one for 35 seconds. He finished second.

(A male dancer named Alex from “Thunder Down Under” was the only one who topped Williams’ time. He also managed to keep his shirt on.)

When I asked which was more difficult, riding the mechanical bull at Rock Bar for charity or the mechanical Chicago Bull named Dennis Rodman for rebounding position, JYD said the mechanical bull, by far.

He said Rodman could snort and snarl when it came to pounding glass, though.

Williams, who has lived in Las Vegas for seven years, was competing for his charity called the Junkyard Dog Project, which hosts a summer camp for kids at Touro University.
