Passengers aboard a Delta Air Lines flight from Los Angeles to Minneapolis were an hour late to their destination after the plane's captain had to divert the flight in order to break up a fist fight between two flight attendants.
According to the Washington Post, the fight between the two flight attendants broke out after a disagreement over "work Issues" escalated.
The captain of the plane decided to divert the flight to Salt Lake City after another female flight attendant, who was attempting to break up the altercation, was hit by "flying fists" in the process.
After replacing the flight crew with a new set of team members, the flight departed again for Minneapolis.
Delta Air Lines confirmed the incident and offered an apology in a statement to the Post.
“Delta apologizes to those customers who were inconvenienced after flight 2598 from Los Angeles to Minneapolis-St. Paul made an unscheduled stop in Salt Lake City following an altercation involving two flight attendants on board. The actions of these crew members in no way reflect the values and professionalism we expect from all of our employees,” the statement said.
In an effort to apologize to the passengers for the inconvenience, Delta offered miles to the customers who are members of its SkyMiles program. For those passengers who are not enrolled SkyMiles, Delta issued travel vouchers.
