Friendly Ford event a success

Friendly Ford and The Animal Foundation Paws for the Cause pet adoption event May 26 was deemed a great success.

"Friendly Ford and The Animal Foundation have really made Paws for the Cause a valuable force for helping people adopt animals," Friendly Ford General Manager Jason Davis said. "The Animal Foundation is part of the family here. As a partnership, we helped dozens of dogs and cats get adopted. We also did more than 100 microchips free right here at Friendly Ford with Dr. Sam Lynch from Desert Inn Animal Hospital."

Friendly Ford and The Animal Foundation believe the community is essential, education is empowerment and action is everything. Their mission is to inspire and enable people to join the fight against pet overpopulation, while, at the same time, find homes for dogs and cats in Southern Nevada. The Animal Foundation takes in about 50,000 animals each year.

"The Animal Foundation volunteers had so much fun and did an awesome job," Dana Olliges said. "So many dogs need homes and it is so important to train your new dog after you get him home. I adopted a 2-year-old female, terrier mix and she was adopted and returned twice to The Animal Foundation. Love, patience and training really go a long way with these animals that have been through so much. It was another great event at Friendly Ford, and I am already looking forward to the next one in October."

New this year was the Citizen Protection Dog Club and Rescue presenting live on-leash demonstrations.

"I am a former military police working dog trainer and handler with over 20 years experience breeding high-performance dogs and training them to be good family pets," said Gregory Conner, owner and certified trainer of MP K9 Dog Training. "Friendly Ford gave me the forum to show what a trained dog can really do. I can't thank them enough for the opportunity."

Friendly Ford is at 660 N. Decatur Blvd., just north of U.S. Highway 95, where it has served Las Vegas for 42 years. The dealership is a 13-time winner of the Chairman's Award, Ford's highest honor for customer satisfaction.
