March 5, 2009 - 2:18 pm
Gov. Jim Gibbons today appointed a private attorney and a deputy public defender to serve as judges in Clark County Family Court.
Gibbons appointed Charles Hoskin, 45, and William Gonzalez, 47, to fill two vacancies that were left open after Stefany Miley was elected to the District Court bench and Sandra Pomrenze was elected to a newly created Family Court seat.
Hoskin, who is in private practice, said he was “honored and humbled” to be chosen by the governor. Hoskin, who received his law degree from Lewis and Clark, had run twice prior for Family Court.
He will serve as a judge in Department E.
Gonzalez, who has served as a deputy public defender for 10 years, had previously run twice for a municipal court seat.
He said he felt “honored to be selected by the governor.” Gonzalez also was previously appointed to the Las Vegas Housing Authority board.
He received his law degree from Brigham Young University. He will serve as a judge in Department F.
