Harry Reid and the ‘e-word’
Nevada Sen. Harry Reid’s favorite political cuss word is “extreme.”
The Tea Party is “extreme.” Republicans in the House are “extreme.” The Koch brothers are “extreme.” The Catholic Church is “extreme.” People who don’t like his granddaughter’s jewelry are “extreme.” Anybody who crosses him is extreme.
Here’s the unvarnished truth: Harry Reid is an extremist. He proved it last week.
After unwisely branding the supporters of Cliven Bundy “domestic terrorists,” Sen. Reid went out to party with one of the most extreme groups in Nevada.
Thursday night he was the keynote speaker at the 20th anniversary of the Progressive Leadership Alliance of Nevada. This is a group that is anything but middle-of-the-road on the spectrum of politics in Nevada.
If you put private land ownership on a ballot to members of PLAN Nevada, I’m not sure it could get a simple majority. These are people who represent the most extreme positions in land use in Nevada. If the whole state could become a wilderness area, they’d be happy.
Yet there is Sen. Reid, partying with his fellow extremists and getting a standing ovation. He even repeated the “domestic terrorist” charge to the group, and the crowd went wild. How icky is that?
On its Twitter feed, @PLANevada says “The revolution will be live-tweeted!” and Sen. Reid was all aglow with gooey praise.
“Proud to join this wonderful group of progressive Nevadans,” Sen. Reid tweeted.
One of the far left folks in the crowd tweeted to extremists everywhere that “@senatorreid is the best! You’re all jealous he’s not your senator.”
Not a single person that night (certainly not Sen. Reid) dared bring up the First Amendment pens the federal government erected to control demonstrators. It goes without saying that no one at this left-fest mentioned to Sen. Reid that the Second Amendment still allows Nevadans to carry guns. Those pesky rights don’t get much attention with this crowd.
The BLM and the federal government have yet to give a full accounting of their botched operation in Bunkerville. Yet here sits Sen. Reid judging who’s right and wrong in front of a group that would be first in line for badges and guns if it meant imposing extreme left positions on the American people.
Extremism is what extremism does. Get a mirror, Sen. Reid.
